Notes: Webb ready for Opening Day


Gearing up for Opening Day, the Diamondbacks have set their starting rotation to give each pitcher a schedule best suited to their ability. For now, starter Brandon Webb looks to be the only hurler to have a regular rotation, allowing for flexibility in the bullpen.

Miguel Batista matched a career high with 11 strikeouts as the Diamondbacks beat the Rockies, 12-5 in front of 18,406 on a cold and blustery night at Coors Field. Chris Snyder added a homer and five RBIs in the win.

Damion Easley delivered a two-run single and Luis Gonzalez hit his second home run in as many days, but Arizona could not hold the lead in a 5-4 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday at Miller Park.

Kevin Jarvis was summoned out of minor-league camp Sunday and pitched the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 6-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs. The Diamondbacks needed a starting pitcher after they traded left-hander Brad Halsey to the Oakland Athletics for Juan Cruz. Jarvis pitched four scoreless innings and gave up two hits.

The Arizona Diamondbacks reassigned left-hander Randy Choate to their minor league camp on Tuesday. The move came after Choate faced one batter, allowing a double to Jim Thome, in Arizona's 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
